Vegas

Update on Vegas From His New Family

Vegas_1August 22, 2009 was our one-year anniversary with Vegas (aka Paco or Timbaco). He is doing incredibly well and we feel so blessed to have him in our lives. He has become very confident and is starting to jump up and balance on his remaining back leg. He loves to swim and catch sticks and play with his ball. The community in which we live has embraced him and it is hard to take him for a walk without someone stopping and asking about him. It is amazing to see how people are drawn to him. Those that know his story just stop and give him a ton of love.

We have a lot of elderly folks around and they just love Vegas.  We also live close to a school and the children often will play with him and ask a lot of questions about how he lost his leg.  When we tell them how he was hit by a car the children learn how important it is to look both ways before crossing the street.  Vegas teaches us and the community what it means to be a survivor.  He has inspired and captured the hearts of so many people, it is truly touching.

We can’t thank SPECIEES enough for helping to bring Vegas into our lives.  If one was to ask him he would say everyone at SPECIESS were his guardian angels! Vegas is a true champion and such a blessing in our lives.
